norman rockwell.

i love norman rockwell. he is a talented artist and funny too. one thing i especially love about norman rockwell is his christmas book (norman rockwell's christmas book, you know? the one with the original title?). it is full of lovely rockwell christmas prints and even better christmas short stories and poems. it is fantastic.

(the version we have at home is much older than this fancy shmancy one, and therefore, better).

my mom has lots of christmas books. at christmas time she carefully pulls out her books to display for all our christmas visitors. when i was little i would sit and read these books. it didnt take long for me to realize that the best book of the bunch was norman rockwell's. with my pudgy, sticky fingers i would read and reread the stories (actually thats not true. i was neither pudgy nor sticky as a child. i was skin and bones and i hated getting dirty, especially sticky). even with my thin, clean hands i still managed to wear down the pages of my favorite stories from reading them over and over again. i loved this book so much that i would sneak it into my room, next to my bed so i could stay up late reading while i was supposed to be sleeping. (i was such a rebel in my youth! a nerdy rebel!). nothing has changed. this year, at the ripe old age of almost two whole decades, i am still itching to hold this book in my hands and stay up late turning the pages when i should be sleeping. (really, i should be sleeping... but really...) anyway, im planning a covert mission to acquire this book out from under my moms nose. and when i succeed, i will share some of the stories with you on this here bloggity-blog. i may also include the appropriate accompanying rockwell print for your visual stimulation. (are you excited??!?!????!!???!!!!) im excited. you should be excited too. you will love. i know.
